The Freep Film Festival is Detroit's premier documentary-focused film festival, produced by the Detroit Free Press. Launched in 2014, the festival showcases non-fiction films that explore compelling stories with social relevance, including documentaries about Detroit and Michigan. Held annually in spring, the festival features world and local premieres, filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, and special events that celebrate the power of documentary storytelling to illuminate important issues and spark community dialogue.
